Why are there 108 beads in the mala? “scientific secret behind it?”

The order in the mala is based on the number of nakshatras. Indian Rishis discovered 27 nakshatras in all. Every nakshatra has four stages. So, 27X4 = 108. So, in all, number 108 is fixed. This number was considered “extremely sacred.
Later on, the number ‘Shri 108’ was used before the names of Dharmacharyas and Jagadgurus as a mark of respect.
